Making of a Mage-King

Have you ever had a series of dreams that simply dominated your life? This is the way Making of a Mage-King came about. As I wrote, my nights were rife with dreams of future scenes or events, and sometimes, though I knew they related, I had no idea how. You know how dreams can be? Twisted and nonsensical. Some say it's my muse. I've even heard it described as channeling, and it certainly felt that way from time to time.

I've posted about dreams before and how they fueled my writing most of the time. This story was by far the most loaded up with such dreams - actual dreams - with very little altering to fit the moment.

So here's the evil fun part: Though such dreams increase in book 2, White Star, and even more so in book 3, Mage-King, they are in all three books. I challenge you to find them. I'm not sure what I can offer you for doing so. I'd gladly sign your book but you'd have to send it to me. Course, I'd gladly do that anyway. I'm going to have to figure out how to sign eBooks too. Hmmm maybe I might be able to send you a copy of the next book if you find the dreams in the first book. I'd have to think on that. What do you think? Do you think you could find the dreams that fueled this story? Have fun looking.

I rarely remember dreams, though from time to time there'll be the odd dream of castles or ruins that lingers after I wake.

I do have a recurring dream of being in a vast cavern at a bonfire, along with dragons, trolls, knights, and various mythical creatures, and we're all singing Take Me Out To The Ballgame. No, I have no idea what that's supposed to mean...

All kinds of dreams, Anna. Prophetic, instructional, guidance, and once, I dreamt a story but, unfortunately I didn’t remember most of the story line. It must’ve been like a romance set in Renaissance times because of the way the characters were dressed. A couple in a boat, the woman in a white dress with a sash. If only I’d remembered the plot I might have written a best-selling novel, who knows?

William, you could take a scene like that and write up quite a comedy hahaha

Debra, I frequently get only a scene. I use it as a seed and write the story around it. Why are they there? How did they get there? Where are they going? What might be a reason? The questions to answer about this scene are endless - and suddenly you have a story.

I completely understand. I just did an article about this topic, but attributed it to my muse. I love that you get plot lines in your dreams.
