Witchcraft

I just finished an eleven-book series about a witch. It started off that she'd left her liv-in boyfriend because he was a two-timing ass, and she went home to a tiny community where all manner of witches and paranormals lived and worked. They all made a very nice little village there. The only thing missing was the influx of the basics, though such things were there, so maybe those store owners went out and got the things they needed. No idea - it wasn't covered.

Through the pages, our young witch progressed with her power and learned some power words. It was a fairly nice character arc, and her personality was rock solid. Yeah, she was always getting into trouble. We learned that her mother was virtually a dud (next to no magic) (never understood why), and we learned that her father was a demon though a nice guy, so she had access to his kind of magic too.

What escapes me - yeah she didn't have time because she was always getting into trouble - is her most powerful aunts never even tried to teach her about her magical world. She was left to stumble upon things herself. She lived with her aunts, and she loved her aunts, and the way her aunts always came to her rescue, they loved her too. (Her mother was the weird wild card in the story). Anyway, love was never the issue; such teaching just never happened. If there was something she wanted to do, she stole one or another of her aunts' books and tried to get herself into even more trouble.

The series covered a year and a half or so, so action was really crunched in there. It was a good read, Just some little details that were suspiciously missing.
